Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child, and one community at a time. With the power of a worldwide network, Kiwanis clubs combine their forces with supporting universal programs such as eradicating Iodine Deficiency and eliminating Maternal and Neonatal tetanus, saving and improving the lives of billions of people worldwide. Clubs also help identify and address the needs of their local community. The Kiwanis Club of Winter Haven is involved in many ways in the community, including:

Drowning Prevention Program – Our club provides free swim lessons to young children twice a year through a partnership with the City of Winter Haven. The lessons educate and train children in water safety.
Read Around the World – A literacy program where volunteers read to preschool students annually in six local Head Start programs, providing each child with a library of books.
Service Leadership Programs – Our Service Leadership Programs, including Key Club in high schools, Builders Club in middle schools, and K-Kids in elementary schools, allow students to build character and develop leadership skills through community service.
Sponsoring $1,000 Annual Scholarships – Kiwanis’ motto is “Serving the Children.” the Kiwanis Club of Winter Haven Foundation has invested more than $60,000 with the Polk Education Foundation to endow scholarships for three graduating high school seniors yearly.
Community Partners – We partner to assist other organizations: bell ringing for the Salvation Army, advocating for the Children’s Miracle Network at IHOP’s National Pancake Day, adopting projects for local United Way agencies, collaborating with Keep Winter Haven Clean and Beautiful with various projects, and many more.
Leadership and Service – Kiwanis members are engaged in their community, volunteering at local events and serving on boards for nonprofit organizations.
