We are devoted to serving the children in our local community, country, and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives.
Our History
The Kiwanis Club of Winter Haven has served the community for 89 years. We were chartered on April 5th, 1935. When we started, the population of Winter Haven was about 7,000 citizens, and roughly 800 students enrolled in the high school. The club’s first meetings were held in the Lake Region Hotel on Mondays around noon. Our first president was Norma A. Street, the president of the American National Bank here in Winter Haven. The club had 26 members, which consisted of 14 business owners, three company presidents, a city commissioner, a Florida State police officer, and a few business managers. Now, Winter Haven’s population is about 50,000, and roughly 3,500 students are enrolled in high school. Each month, we meet on the 1st Thursday at The Brack Shack in Auburndale at 6:30 p.m. and the 2nd Tuesday at Beef O’ Brady’s at noon. Our current President is Gonzalo Gutierrez, an Academic Success Coach at Purdue University. The club has 21 members who come from a range of professions. We currently sponsor five Service Leadership Programs and partner with numerous organizations to benefit the Winter Haven community.

Good afternoon,
The City of Winter Haven has begun the task of updating our Parks, Recreation and Trails Master Plan. The plan will include recommendations on community needs, operations, projects and capital spending. The ultimate goal of this document will be to guide the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department for the next 5-10 years. We are currently in the stage of kicking off our community engagement, which will be done through surveys, focus groups, public meetings and more. Our focus groups will be a one-hour session that will take place over Zoom in the second week of November. The focus groups will be centered around a facilitated discussion of what is the City’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Department doing really well, where can we improve, how we can work better with other departments and other topics we are seeking feedback on.
You are receiving this email because you have been identified as a community service partner. Your rescheduled focus group is slated to take place on Wednesday, November 6th at 6:30pm. If you are able to participate, please respond to this calendar invite or call me at the number listed below. The Zoom link is listed below with the Meeting ID and Passcode. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out.
